Key milestones

A history of Belgian chocolate

​We’ve come a long way to bring you the quality chocolate the world enjoys today.

• ​1901
  The former Victoria’s site in Brussels, Belgium, is established to manufacture biscuits and chocolates in the early 20th century.
• ​1926
  Chocolaterie Draps, which later became known as Godiva Chocolatier, was founded.
• ​1971
  The Draps family purchases the Victoria site.
• ​June 2019
  ​MBK Partners acquires Godiva Japan, along with operations in South Korea, Oceania, and the Brussels production plant.
  ​The factory is renamed Manufacture Belge de Chocolats (MBC), becoming part of the Godiva Japan Group.
  ​Continuous upgrades to the building and equipment begin.
